Overview of progress, April to June 2005

1. Better understanding of consultation and e-consultation

• Public and community sector interviews.
• Theory-building workshop in Belfast on 17 May
• Papers accepted for two e-government conferences (Antwerp and Copenhagen), the EU e-challenges conference (Ljubljana) and a community informatics one (Cape Town).

4. Dissemination

• Armagh workshop.
• HEA's Dundalk workshop.
• Development of handouts and web site to include introduction to e-consultation technologies (for taster sessions, see below).
• Conference articles (see above).

2. What technologies and processes work best for participants?

• E-consultation technology demonstrations + focus groups (taster sessions)
  • 3 at Letterkenny IT
  • At least 3 in Belfast (QUB)
• No small-scale tests yet, as we first need to narrow down the choice of technologies, based on users' scenarios of potential use.

3. What is needed for organisational implementation of e-consultation?

• designed an evaluation of the AdviceNI e-consultations.
• started to find people interested in taking part in a trial
  • at the Armagh and Dundalk workshops
  • at the demonstration sessions
